This sweet tropical fruit has made it way to be one of the most popular and perhaps consumed fruit in the world. The indigenous fruit of the South Americans can be seen in many countries today, thanks to Hawaii because of their ability to produce 80% of pineapple in the world.

Obviously many people consume this fruits because of its sweet taste, and for some, they have an idea of its health benefits. Lets dive into five surprising health benefits of pineapple you had wish you knew earlier.

  • Pineapple contains disease fighting anti-oxidants. Anti-oxidants helps fight against oxidative stress. In other word, anti-oxidants helps reduce the risk of chronic diseases in our body.
  • Contains effective bromelain. An enzyme that effectively breaks down protein and is mostly known to be extracted from pineapple. This enzyme may treat asthma, mucosal ulcers, cancer, cardiovascular disease etc.
  • Filled with nutrients. Some of this nutrients are vitamin c, manganese, carbs, calories, fibre
